UNSW Canberra Academy Library
This is going to be juicy! A collection of over 10,000 personal papers and Commonwealth records spanning former PM John Howard’s career have been transferred from the National Archives of Australia to UNSW for public access from May this year. Mr. Howard, the recipient of an honorary Law degree from UNSW, has recently had the ‘John Howard Reading Room’ opened in his honour at UNSW’s Canberra campus, where the collection will be stored for access and display. The John Howard Collection chronicles the early years of his political career through to his time as Treasurer, Leader of the Opposition and Prime Minister, covering the period from 1974 to 2007. Whilst only records which have entered the open access period will be made available at this point, we’re keen to get in there and have a stickybeak!
