The Doughnut’s of Canberra

When you think about it, when you really ponder the idea, Doughnuts and Canberra go hand in hand… In my mind at least.

It has something to do with the love of traffic-controlling roundabouts and the indulgence that the Canberra locals love.

When mixed together, the result is a loud and packed with flavour little ball of dough. But don’t take my word on it, here are three of the standouts in the capital:

PIP & LOU
If you need a cake for a wedding, you’re in the right place. Though if you’re in need of a golden leafed doughnut, you’re also in the right spot. The level of elegance that Pip & Lou create when crafting their breed of doughnut is outstanding and very delicious.

Bombolini Doughnuts
If you ever meet Mr Geoff Whittal, you should buy him a drink. The brains behind the Bombolini creations, Whittal, a native English man, recently moved to Canberra and has managed to turn the doughnut scene on its head. With a classic, doughy doughnut, he pipes his creations with all the delicious flavours that make you go weak at the knees.

Capitol Bar and Grill
It might sound a tad influenced, but just try these one’s once and you’ll see why they made the list. Warm little baby doughnuts that have been covered in cinnamon sugar and served with two sauces; a vanilla custard and honey and a strawberry, lemon and mint jam. The sauces come in syringes, so it’s you who gets to say when.
