Spilt Milk: After Milk

words by ben stephens

Yeah Canberra! The first summer festival of the season has just swung open the gates and hot damn we are in for a fine day!

The temps are meant to be hitting a warm 30 degrees, so we slap on that sunscreen and throw a glass of water in the mix every now and then.

Let’s get down to the good stuff though. Ya aria award winning Boi Flume is on the Angove Stage at 9:45pm, you’ve got a whole bunch of time to fill before then. The likes of the babin’ Vera Blue, Chubby Boy All day and the pastel tones of Client Liason will no doubt fill your early to late afternoon.

A couple of classic clashes begin to happen around 6pm, with the DMA’s and L D R U both taking to the stage within five minutes of each other – hectic. Vince Staples and Violent Soho at 7pm will also see… you know what, I don’t want to tell you who to catch, you’re your own human, you do you.

What I will urge you to keep in mind is where to be once Flume, Hot Dub Time Machine and Genesis close out Spilt Milk 2016. Thanks to the absolute champs at Box Cutter, we here at QT Canberra will be hosting one of two after parties for the festival.

The Boxcutter team has been able to secure a sweet line-up and at the top of that bill is an as-yet-unnamed international DJ… We can’t say who it is because, you know, embargo rules apply and what not, but you’re not going to want to miss it. We’ll be partying until the wee hours of Sunday morning because, after twelve hours at a festival, you want a lengthy kick on.

Tickets are not a thing for the after party. Capacity is though. We recommend once you leave the festival, make a rather hasty dash for Lucky’s at QT Canberra.

Just a note on fashion. We love festival fashion and can’t wait to see you. But we do have to say no to thongs, enclosed footwear will be required – sorry, liquor licensing regs.

Canberra, enjoy your big day of hosting some amazing acts. Stay safe, see you at the after party.

Spilt Milk is sold out. However, their official Facebook has a few tickets floating around. Check that out HERE.
