Meet the Artist: Victoria ter Kuile

With an abundance of striking talent flooding in, the competition proved fierce to select just one winner for the first round of Your Art. Our Halls. You’ve been patient – And we are thrilled to finally announce the very first artist that will be hitting our halls in style this October.

Victoria ter Kuile is a 23 year old artist, currently studying Law and Arts at the Australian National University. Having grown up abroad, her artistic style has developed a unique eccentricity that is informed by a variety of international influences and cultures. However, having returned to Australia, Victoria is currently enjoying the challenge of capturing Australian landscapes and its fauna. Victoria’s work is privately collected, and has been exhibited twice in Singapore, and three times in Canberra.

‘Essence’ captures the intrinsic relationship between the Australian landscape and the rich identity of its people, which together comprise the soul of the country.

The signature piece ‘Essence’ depicts an emblematic Australian landscape, featuring the iconic colours of Australia’s outback and flora, framed within a portrait of a charismatic, pensive Indigenous man. The painting captures the intrinsic relationship between the Australian landscape and the rich identity of its people, which together comprise the soul of the country. The rest of the collection explores figurative expression and depiction of emotion through oils, acrylic and charcoal.

Victoria’s work will be on display from Monday 1st October to Wednesday 31st October in the foyer of QT Canberra.
