Let’s talk about sex

SEX. Don’t blush. Sex is a part of la vida loca, so accept it. Throughout June, the National Film and Sound Archives are hosting a series of steamy events that are sure to get your heart racing. I repeat, do not blush.

Let’s Talk About Sex will explore sex, sexuality and gender on screen. Showings will include films that pushed censorship, aroused controversy and challenged perceptions of sex and sensuality.

What’s on this sex menu, you ask? Let us give you the blow by blow… 

June 17 – We Are The Best!

In 1982 Stockholm, three teenage girls decide to start a punk band, despite the absence of musical instruments or apparent talent. Religion, gender stereotypes and teenage angst intertwine in this charming and unforgettable film.

June 19 – Flaming Creatures

This film, with its flagrant depictions of sexuality was allegedly deemed so naughty that it very nearly resulted in criminal charges. It’s an experimental featurette that features 10 dream-like scenes containing drag, nudity and groping.
