By Niall Roeder…
The good (and sober) people at Junkee have handpicked 200 of Australia’s brightest young sparks to run amok at QT Canberra for three days. Junket is an “unconference”, a freethinking free-for-all, aiming to “set the agenda for Australia’s future”. It’s an ambitious goal, and why it shouldn’t be? After all (insert motivational quote)… ambition is the path to success. Perfect!
In a nutshell, this is how it works. The think tank participants are encouraged to pitch ideas, a committee of delegates will then choose which ideas will be used for a session, and in each session the following rules must be followed:
- Nobody is giving a presentation – unconferences are all about conversations
- If a session doesn’t inspire attendees and they are not contributing, they should get up and find a different one
If you know someone who deserves to be a part of this ideas rodeo, follow this link and present their case. If not, there will be heaps of progressive thoughts, innovative ideas and general intellectual goodness to come from this event, so keep an eye on social media and the hashtag #junket throughout November, for bits and pieces of digital content.
Oh, and would someone tell the pollies to put the onions down and take note. They could use a few ideas when it comes to the future of our nation.
Junket: November 1 – 3
