If you’re in the mood to experience some truly amazing art by some of Australia’s most creative minds, head down to the Beclonnen Arts Centre and catch Imaginarium, which opens Friday, January 23 and runs until February 15, 2015.
Curated by Amanda Stuart, Imaginarium delves into the hybrid realm of dreams and fantasy – where flesh and feather meld seamlessly into mythological form.
Showcasing the work of more than twenty artists, Imaginarium explores the political, spiritual, technological, biological, ecological and the cultural, yet transforming them at the same time into something more than themselves.
Artists employ a wide range of devices including narrative, metaphor and allegory. Their concepts are realized through a spectrum of overlapping methodologies, which embrace performance, documentation, object making, collage, installation, painting and drawing.
The Belconnen Arts Centre is at the forefront of creative expression, engaging artists locally and internationally who push the boundaries in art and Imaginarium will be no exception.
Imaginarium is on at the Belconnen Arts Centre from Friday, January 23 until February 15, 2015. Entry is free.
