We’ve come to grips with the fact that we have a nostalgic streak for 80s Australiana in a BIG way so when we heard that former mullet models, Icehouse, were performing at the Southern Cross Club in Woden on September 3 you can bet your can of Passiona that we were already lining up some overdue annual leave.
Despite a career spanning over 30 years, Icehouse aka Iva Davies perfectly captures the windswept electro-pop spirit of the 80s. Tracks such as Hey Little Girl and Electric Blue still touch us in ways that modern music just seems unable to achieve albeit it is frequently accompanied by premixed alcoholic drinks, some stonewash denim, wigs and good friends.
Icehouse has sold over three million albums locally and over nine million internationally. They have had 28 platinum records in Australasia alone, eight top-10 albums and over thirty top-40 singles. ICEHOUSE continues to prosper. In recent times Iva Davies and Icehouse have maintained a presence in the Australian media as well as establishing their global online footprint with their popular Facebook, YouTube, Twitter and other social media pages and sites. In 2011 and through the first half of 2012 ICEHOUSE headlined a number of major music festivals and events around Australia and New Zealand for large and enthusiastic crowds, which also brought a rush of mainstream media appearances for the band.
Bookings are essential and can be made by contacting Southern Cross Club in Woden directly.
Icehouse will play at the Southern Cross Club September 3.
