We caught up with local Canberra Wedding Photographer, Jenny Wu, who captured Melane and Marcus’ big day at QT Canberra earlier this year.
QT: Can you tell us a little bit about yourself?
JW: I’m a Mum to a ridiculously cute 2 year old and 2 furbabies. My husband and I are originally from Sydney but we discovered Canberra from a short working stint here 7 years ago and fell in love with the lifestyle here.
QT: Did you always want to be a photographer?
JW: I’ve loved photography since I was young, but never dreamed that I would end up with a career in photography.
QT: What makes the perfect shot? And what do you have to do to get it?
JW: My favourite shots are the ones that come about naturally and unexpectedly. To get the shot you just have to pay attention to the little signs that something special is about to happen.
QT: Have you shot any weddings outside of the norm? If so, what is the quirkiest wedding you have been a part of?
JW: The ‘norm’ is very different now to what it was a couple of years ago! In one of my recent weddings, the couple had their honeymoon first, then the wedding reception, then a week later they became officially married at a registry in another state. Why not?
QT: What is your favourite part of a wedding? I am stealing my answer from James Marsden in 27 Dresses, who looks back at the groom when the bride walks in to see his face light up (welp).
JW: I love being part of the madness, excitement, nerves (all the feels) when the couple are getting ready at the start of the wedding day.
QT: What is your advice to couples who are camera shy?
JW: I like to get my couples to focus on each other when I take photos.
QT: How can brides and grooms to be, get in touch with you?
JW: Send me an email at [email protected]
