Dark acts result in darker consequences. And there is little that’s darker and more complicated than the act of revenge. Read that out loud and you’ll actually feel smarter.
Remaining one of theatre’s most fascinating characters, the tragic story of Bell Shakespeare’s Hamlet combines anguish, passion and desperation on the stage.
Showing at the Canberra Theatre Centre, October 13 – 24, Hamlet shows a family torn apart by murder, a son burdened with the truth and the task of avenging his father, and a country on the brink of war. Could this be the original Game of Thrones?
Part of the collected works 2015 season at the Canberra Theatre Centre, Damien Ryan returns to Bell Shakespeare following his critically acclaimed Henry V in 2014, and will deliver a new style of Hamlet, immersed with passion, contemplation and emotion. Hamlet is considered by many to be the Bard’s greatest play. Most of us have studied it in school in some shape or form, and those who haven’t, probably should have. This deeply moving and tragic story still resonates today – it makes you wonder if the modern day favourites like GOT and The Walking Dead will to stand the test of time.
Before diving into the depths of complexity and philosophical reflection of this show, why not head to Lucky’s for a pre show drink, or Capitol Bar and Grill for a post show feast? To Vanilla Passionfruit Pisco Sour or not to Vanilla Passionfruit Pisco Sour: that is the question.
