Smell that? That tantalizingly freshness in the air followed by a hint of wet weather? That’s the smell of Spring in Canberra. And what better way to get ready than by ticking off your new season wardrobe with items from the Gorman 2014 Spring collection.
A favourite at the QT offices for it’s emphasis on simple shapes in fun colours and prints, the Gorman Spring 2014 capsule does not disappoint on either of those fronts. Dubbed ‘KAPOW!’, the range is packed full of geometric patterns and bright pinks, plums and blues. It’s like wearable gelati. The collection also features a collaboration with Brooklyn artist Kate Kosek, adding to the seriously colourful details of the range.
There is a touch of the British Mod scene in the collection, with some serious flashback standouts happening with fantastically named Satellite of Love Dress and the Kate Kosek Bizzy Bizzy number. Despite the presence of some softer, longer lines present in the jumpsuits and three-quarter length dress, Gorman’s ever present architectural shaping is still a strong feature. Somehow, they manage to drape and structure all at the same time.
Gorman’s Spring 2014 collection with Kate Kosek is available online at Gorman now.
