Exclusive to QT – An Interview with Eve & Kane

We spoke to one half of the brother-sister duo, Gabi Levi, about the brand and what he finds important when it comes to the perfect pair of footwear.

QT: Hi Gabi, thanks for taking the time to chat! How did Eve & Kane begin?

 Gabi Levi: It was a mix between always wanting to be an entrepreneur and work for myself, and the lack of affordable luxury footwear that doesn’t compromise on quality and comfort.

How would you describe the Eve & Kane aesthetic? 

I would have to describe it as colourful, interesting and unique. Our colour pallet is very different to what’s currently available out there and I definitely think that’s one of our key selling points.

The driving shoe is such an understated piece yet you tweak this design with really exciting prints, creating a fun tension between tradition and modern – what goes into the process of designing each pair of Eve & Kane shoes?

The process starts off with going through a book of material swatches, this could be anything from a suede, leather or horsehair. After choosing a material we choose which silhouette it would best suit and then proceed on having a sample made.

One the sample is finished we test it out for roughly 8 weeks of wear, any adjustments that need to be done our overseen by our factory and once we see an updated sample we go into production. It really is a long process from start to finish but this ensures that our quality, comfort and overall finish is exceptional.

You also have a range of beautiful wallets available – are there plans to expand on your accessories?

 We definitely want to expand into more accessories down the line, however we always want to remain a footwear label.

Is there a particular shoe that is your favourite?

 I have to say our Brooklyn Python Sneaker, definitely gets lots of compliments, the texture and material is incredible.
