Deliciously Colourful – Verner’s SS14/15 Eat Cake

Spring brings with it any number of things, some good such as night jasmine, lambs and other cute things. Some not so good like constant sneezing and damned pollen everywhere. And then there are great things, like Melbourne label Verner’s latest SS14/15 collection, Eat Cake.

Continuing on from the stark minimalist theme of her AW14 range, White Wash, Eat Cake adds the prerequisite colour boost that comes with spring lines. Taking the romanticized idea of the Parisian experience to a whole new level (seriously, that croissant bumbag is divine) Eat Cake expertly navigates its way through high-end street wear and playful couture.

This season’s must have colour, blue, is of course present but the more interesting hue, we think, is the bright orange. Add to that an amazing use of tablecloth-esque check print combined with Verner’s signature voluminous cuts and oversized shapes and you have yourself a collection that screams vacation in Forêt de Compiègne, only you’re still in Surry Hills. Eating croissants of course.
