There is something so soothing about Sir David Attenborough’s voice. He is somewhat of a modern-day Dr Doolittle, coercing critters, reptiles and mammals alike to behave for the camera, as he documents their every move.
His wildlife documentaries have always been a marvellous feat as he gets up close to even the most skittish of creatures and exposes the circle of life in a way that no one else has. He captures moments we feel privileged to see and that is why he has graced our screens since the 1970’s.
Now, in a very 2017 fashion, Attenborough has forayed into the VR realm with David Attenborough’s Virtual Reality Experience. After a sell-out season in London, this treat for the senses has come to Canberra, exclusively at The National Museum of Australia.
Two experiences are on offer: either travel back through time to see the first glimmerings of life on earth or dive into a breathtaking underwater tour of the Great Barrier Reef.
Both sound equally as enchanting so my bet is to not choose and as the little girl from the taco ad says: Why not both?
First Life VR:
Visitors travel back 540 million years as Attenborough reveals the dawn of life on Earth and introduces us to its earliest inhabitants, exploring ancient oceans and interacting with extinct sea creatures.
Jurassic Park lovers unite! This could be the next best thing to getting up close and personal with all things prehistoric.
