Not many people get the Australian version of funny (the fact that British tourists are given a warning about our sarcasm prior to travelling says much) but damned if we aren’t proud of the fact that we can laugh at ourselves as much as laugh at what goes on around us. Which is why Dave Hughes is pretty much the nation’s comedy Spirit Animal and why you should be jumping up and down at the chance to see him at the Royal Theatre on July 4.
After spending far too much time behind a desk, Hughesy’s decided that his 2014 is all about stand up and he’s got a brand new show to prove it. For a night of comedy gold you can’t look past this laid back legend of Australian Comedy.
Known as much for his drawling accent as he is for his ability to skewer the absurdity of normal life, Dave Hughes is a comedian that captures the caustic Australian sense of humour in spades. Calling bullshit on pretty much everything (and correctly so), Hughes has built a reputation for getting audiences to take a good hard look at themselves and have an even harder laugh.
This will be a fantastic night of comedy that will no doubt have busting out the flag in satirical pride by the end of the night.
Dave Hughes will perform at the Royal Theatre on July 4.
