Citizen Kay at Transit Bar This May

May 18, 2014  ·  2 min read

By Benjamen Judd

With most of us reeling in the aftershock of discovering that yet again a government has broken a promise and intend on taking all our monies, there is at least a rainbow at the end of the shitstorm that is the federal budget and that is knowing we will be seeing Citizen Kay live at Transit Bar on Friday, 30 May.

After spending a triumphant early 2014 making us all Raise a Glass, Citizen Kay announces a slew of tour dates alongside the electrifying fellow scene-stirrer, Brontosaurus rapper Tkay Maidza as well as the release of his third single, Manage.

Citizen Kay’s new track Manage is an immediate hook, drawing you in with its sparse but fluid verses and huge gospel-influenced choruses. It’s a showcase of his rapidly developing presence as an artist and a songwriter, and his undeniable versatility coupled with his unmistakable vibe.

Adelaide rapper Tkay Maidza launched onto Australia’s hip-hop scene only six months ago and she is already making waves around the nation. After impressing audiences on her debut run of East Coast club shows and festival appearances as well as debuting in the ARIA chart for her single ‘Brontosaurus’, Tkay has been pegged as ‘one to watch’ for 2014.

CITIZEN KAY + TKAY MAIDZA are undoubtedly upcoming new hip-hop at its finest.

Citizen Kay and Tkay Maidza will be performing at Transit Bar on Friday, 30 May.
