With the party season drawing to a close (or so we keep telling ourselves!) January tends to be a time of self-rejuvenation. After what seems to be weeks upon end of over-indulgence, it’s no wonder we’re feeling a little dishevelled. Instead of taking drastic measures (permanently renouncing booze only sounds like a good idea on January 1^st) there is a much simpler option. Get beautified. We have rounded up our picks for Canberra’s best beauty treatments, so all you need to do is make that booking! Go on, you deserve it.

Facials- Essence Salon and Spa
Located at the ever-popular restaurant and organic produce mecca that is the Griffith shops, Essence Salon and Spa is a firm favourite for a facial (try saying that three times!). The space is instantly relaxing, with mood lighting, soft music and water features transporting you into a state of calm from the get-go. And then there is the facial menu! Extensive is the word- with choices from Express, Energising and Hydrating to the more targeted, with peels, light therapy and anti-aging options available. I can personally vouch for the microdermabrasion- the perfect pick-me-up for dehydrated and uneven skin.

Hair- A Flick of Hares
Walking into AFOH for the first time, I felt instantly transported to a ‘big smoke’ city like New York. This space has a cool warehouse-like feel, and the concept is one that is new to Canberra: think of a co-working space for hairstylists, each having their own separate businesses but working in a shared environment. Genius! Not only will you love the decor but the creative vibe and knowledge that you are supporting a small business really adds to the experience.
