Venues & EventsSometimes Hollywood really misses the whole point. The huge budgets and massive cast and crew can sometimes take what should’ve been a piece of film to remember and make something that dies in the first ten minutes.
When it comes to experimental film, there is nothing more nurturing for a budding filmmaker than that of an Australian Film Festival… Apart from the celebration of Short Films, like for example the Canberra Short Film Festival that is coming to town for five days in mid-September.
If this is your first time to the festival then you’re in for a real treat. The Canberra Short Film Festival has been producing some of finest shorts over the last couple of years and 2017 is shaping up to be nothing less than that. Now in its 22nd year, the festival will be spread over five nights and four locations celebrating the best in short film.
This year the festival will show a range of films from Animation, Music Video, Schools, Under 18s, National, International, Canberra Local, Documentary and for fans of the really short stuff, Two-Minute films. This year also marks the introduction of the Indigenous film category that will no doubt be stacked with show stoppers.
The Short Film Festival is the perfect place to surround yourself with lovers of the big screen. Each night will host a different screening with the Closing Night at Dendy Cinemas also dishing out the awards to the up and coming filmmakers, something not to be missed.
Be sure to snap up your tickets as soon as possible, to avoid disappointment. For more information and to secure those tickets, head over to the official Canberra Short Film Festival website HERE.
