Canberra has some of the nation’s best events and blockbuster exhibitions covering a plethora of interests including the arts, food and wine, music and sport. Here are some of the key events and exhibitions that we think you should know about this Summer:

Versailles at the National Gallery of Australia
For the first time in history, a collection of more than 130 sumptuous treasures from the Palace of Versailles is coming exclusively to Canberra. Versailles: Treasures from the Palace will be on show at the National Gallery of Australia (NGA) in Canberra from December 9 until 17 April 2017. This exhibition is a once in a lifetime chance to see and experience here in Australia a mesmerising period in French history.

The Commons Street Feast
Launching its inaugural season from December 9-18 in Commonwealth Park, The Commons Street Feast assembles your every guilty food pleasure into a 10-day summer celebration of street food and fun. The Commons Street Feast will be hosting over twenty food producers, chefs and brewers who will be serving up some of the best street food in the picturesque Commonwealth Park. Some of the talent coming to Canberra includes Mary’s Burgers, Gelato Messina and Bao Stop.

Spilt Milk
On Saturday, December 3, Canberra will experience a one-day festival of music, food and art. Spilt Milk will be taking place at Commonwealth Park in the centre of Canberra. The best in artisan street food and drink, cutting edge music and experimental art and culture will be on show. Spilt Milk is also the Canberra stop of Flume’s national tour, making it the first show for Flume in Canberra.

A History of the World in 100 Objects at the National Museum of Australia
Currently on show in Canberra until 29 January 2017, A History of the World in 100 Objects from the British Museum lets you explore 100 fascinating and carefully selected artefacts from the British Museum, from two million years ago to the present.
