Venues & EventsAlright August, what have you got for us. What winter relief are you going to bring to the fine people of the nation’s capital? Will it be an early spring? Will it snow on Ainslie? Will the flowers be okay come Floriade? Will there be a spill in Parliament? Will Barnaby fix the water issue up stream? When does Parliament go back?
These are the questions facing many of the Canberra towns people whether they know it or not.
Sadly, I can answer only but one. It’s going to be a cold week, so Spring doesn’t look to be coming early (oh, and Parliament is back in the second week of the month)
Oh, and there is a fair bit going on this month in Canberra that you should probably get around. That way you can fill your calendar out and sign up to four too many social engagements that you may not make. But it’s important to make goals.
Truffle Season
There is no chance that you’ve had your fair slice of the fungi yet and the good news is that the Canberra Truffle Festival is still happening around you. You can go out hunting for the little legends with the team at Canberra Truffle Farm. Or if you want to forgo all the foraging (😉), be sure to hit up one or ten of the many restaurants around town showcasing that distinguished truffle taste. You can find a full list HERE.Towers of Tomorrow
Remember the hours spent playing with Lego as a kid? They were the best. The possibilities were endless and the architecture was always some so conceptual that your brother would poke holes at the design until you too saw the errors in your ways… anyway Lego. The team over at the National Museum of Australia have assembled 20 stunning towers from around the world for you to marvel at, along with 200,000 pieces of Lego for you to build your own grand design.

This is likely to be the one you don’t reschedule… The middle of the year has leapt by and you still haven’t got the core clique together for a long Saturday lunch since late summer. Stop being the worst friend and book a spot for the conversation to flow before the wine takes over. Venue wise, this is all up to you. You do you Canberra. Oh also, QT Canberra just won an award for the best steak in Canberra.Tom Gleeson
You know Tom. He’s the one who told Sophie Monk that her career was dead… then she got named as this years Bachelorette. Tom also tore shreds off the Veronica’s, watch that one below. But before you do, get all up in his tickets for his brand new show that’ll be in Canberra on August 19 – for one night only. You know it’ll be worth it.words by ben stephens
