Bugaboo Strollers: Rolling Artworks for the Style Conscious Parent

Attention parents conscious of all things a la mode. Listen up now or forever push your child with reckless abandon into un-stylishness. Bugaboo, the kings of sophisticated strollers are standing up (while babies are lying down) to be counted.

Bugaboo is a Dutch “mobility company” founded by designer Max Barenbrug and physician Eduard Zanen. Whilst studying, the crafty Barenburg noticed parents struggling to get their children from the bike carriers to the awkward, style-void pushchairs. There was a gap in the market for a quality stroller that was easy to work and looked schmick, so he dove right in.

Bugaboo strollers are made to accommodate wriggling infants and their active parents from the strap in, during the walk and through to the return and pack up. From an aesthetic point of view, they’re pushing strollers into areas their competitors haven’t yet dared to go. For example, combining the Bugaboo Bee³ with Van Gogh’s 1890 floral masterpiece, “Almond Blossoms”. Yep, these strollers are literally rolling artworks.

It was never intended to be, but these little-people vehicles have become quite the status symbol with the rich and famous.
