It’s Sunday morning, the Pineapple and Cinnamon Caipirinhas and Blood Orange Bellinis you rightfully treated yourself to last night are stirring a hunger. A breakfast hunger that needs to be satisfied… stat. Don’t worry, we’ve all been there!
The Hamlet
This urban village in the heart of Braddon provides Canberran’s with delicious, deluxe, and relatively cheap street food vendors. Some of the local food favourites at The Hamlet include Dream Cuisine (Danishes ahoy!), Nookie Espresso (cheese and tomato toasties yo), Mr Papa (pumping Peruvian street food), Spit Shak (MEAT ON THE SPIT) and The Brathaus (top notch bratwurst).
Westside Acton Park
Westside Acton Park is Canberra’s shipping container village – you can’t miss it. It’s a massive yellow and blue shipping container structure located on the Westside of the city. It features various street food style vendors – that are all affordable and tasty as… We recommend you head to Miss Van’s Vietnamese, Lao & Thai (epic phở), The One (gourmet sandwiches, tacos and wings), or Habibiz (authentic Middle Eastern BBQ).
Brodburger or BrodDog
Brodburger and BrodDog, are both places that Canberra locals visit regularly. How do we know this? Because the lines are out of control! Brodburger, located in Kingston, was born from an old red gypsy caravan, and has an overwhelming following. Their authentic flame grilled burgers are massive and delicious. We recommend ordering online to save yourself the wait time.
BrodDog is Brodburger’s younger brother, and is located in The Hamlet. This is the number one choice for gourmet hotdogs, with your choice of Vienna Frankfurt, Spicy Kransky or an all Beef Frankfurt. Veggo’s, they have your back too with their Fried Popcorn Cauliflower & Eggplant dog – seriously delicious!
Capitol Bar & Grill
Capitol Bar & Grill is renowned for its killer brekkie. To say there is variety is an understatement. Think of anything breakfast related… thought of something? They’ve got it.
The Cupping Room
This joint is owned by Sasa Sestic, the guy who took out the Annual World Barista Championship in 2015. That’s reason enough to go check out The Cupping Room for a brew, surely. Although it’s easy to get taken away with the romance of potentially drinking THE BEST COFFEE IN THE WORLD, please remember – you’re hung over! So while you’re there, get stuck into Huevos Bollo (two fried eggs, wood-smoked bacon, avocado & house made Costa Rican sauce in a brioche roll).
