A Boutique Guide to Canberra

Most things you expect to be where they are; a café in a popular restaurant strip, a retail store in a mall- you get the picture.

But sometimes, very rarely, you will come across a surprising treasure outside of its usual habitat- and these are undoubtedly the loveliest finds of them all!

Once rather predictable, our Nation’s Capital has these babies springing up all over town- you just need to know where to look. Here are three boutiques that have caught our eye of late:

Baby Pink

Now, Baby Pink’s older sister (boutique) Pink Ink is a much adored fashion trove and has been part of Braddon’s make-up since long before it was the hipster hub it is today. Pink Ink certainly contributed to the new Braddon and paved the way for other businesses to follow suit. Owner Jane Pettersen has always been a trail-blazer so it is not surprising that the opening of Baby Pink next to the suburban Deakin shops is both unexpected and a stroke of genius all at once! Stocking a carefully curated collection including Trelise Cooper, Megan Park and By Malene Birger, you would be nuts not to stop in after your morning coffee run.

Kin Gallery

When most people think of the Hamlet in Braddon, they think of the array of funky food vans serving up tasty, local and affordable eats. But wander down the back and you will find yourself at KIN Gallery. The gallery represents makers and designers from around the country, stocking jewellery and contemporary objects. They also regularly hold events, exhibitions and workshops so you can learn a new skill, support local business and even grab a hot-dog on your way out. Everybody wins!
