A Little Racey Re-Cap of Cup Day at QT

On November 5th, the colourful personalities gathered at QT Canberra’s annual Melbourne Cup Party. This year, QT Canberra’s winner’s circle is expanded to the entire hotel ground floor. The restaurant, bars, lobby and deck came alive with feasts, fashion, and saddles of fun.

In true QT style, unforgettable dinning took a front seat on race day. Capitol Bar and Grill’s famous feasting menu was showcased to lunch-goers boasting Italian inspired favourites designed to share over lucky bets and a three-hour beverage package of local Lerida Estate Wines and champagne.

Guests also enjoyed a garden party cocktail package with roving canapes, Wapengo oysters, delectable antipasto stations and free-flowing Lerida Estate Wines. Of course, it wouldn’t have been a celebration without a glass of G.H. Mumm champagne on arrival.

The day’s excitement was streamed direct from Flemington Racecourse across multiple screens throughout the hotel ground floor and accompanied with entertainment of the QT kind. Live music from four-piece band, the Cherry Pickers sound tracked the day while popup bars and photo walls added to the spring party atmosphere.

Glamour wasn’t forgotten with QT’s red carpet rolling out through the ground floor to stage the Fashion on the Field parade hosted by style empress, Janette Wojtaszak from the @thestatementlife. Between best dressed and quirkiest fascinator competitions, guests could also try their luck with sweeps or lawn games on the outside deck.

Good vibes were kept afloat after the final bet with an open after-party held in Lucky’s Speakeasy. The fully stocked bar and carefully crafted DJ sets carried celebrations into the night.
