By Benjamen Judd BUY TICKETS Come with us back to a time before everything was on iPads and sugar wasn’t the devil and have a hoot at the launch of the Australian Women’s Weekly Fashion: The First 50 Years at the National Library of Australia on Friday, May 30. We have huge soft spot for all things nostalgic. And while we admit that certain times definitely had their issues, there is a certain sense of simplicity that they embody which is lacking today. So given the opportunity to take a fond and rosy-eyed view of the past accompanied by the chance to play dress ups along with a fascinating exploration of one of the nation’s favourite publications, you can believe we’re going to be taking that up! Guests will enjoy a vintage fashion runway show styled by Australia’s largest private collection of vintage clothing and accessories while sipping cocktails and nibbling on canapés. You will also be able to chat with co-authors Deborah Thomas and Kirstie Clements, Belinda Riding and other fashion luminaries. Tickets to the event cost $50. Don’t forget to wear your very own vintage inspired look and really celebrate Australia’s rich and rather fashionable history.
