Wellington Takes out Top spot

words by ben stephens

There seems to be a bunch of research crowning different cities around the world as the most liveable. A new city every other week seems overkill, though as the boffins conclude, things change and as does the livability of a city. Global changes, uncertainty and the climate all play heavily when it comes to naming a liveable city.

Last month, the research team at Deutsche Bank rankemd our own little Wellington as the place to live… HOW GOOD! Just to be clear the researchers did leave out socialising and having fun as factors, which saw cities like London and New York sit rather low on this one.

Wellington scored middle of the range when it came to Health Care and Cost of Livin, though every other factor we score right near the top. After combining all the scores we came first with Edinburgh second and Vienna third. Not a bad bunch of cities really.

We ranked best of all cities surveyed in Pollution, which is pretty damn cool! You can find the full results HERE. of catch the Wellington NZ team celebrating below.

Funnily enough, that’s not the award that we Wellingtonians can smile about. This year we have already taken out a number of awards from international judges. The champions over at Lonely Planet called Welly the best place to drink beer in 2017; National Geographic ranked us as one of the top six best cities to for food and we have been named the cleanest capital and cleanest air quality by The Daily Telegraph. It’s only half way through the year and already the pool room is looking full with silverware!

Here’s to you Wellington, you good looking city! Keep up the good work!

As the year moves forward, we’ll be sure to keep you updated with the award situation.
