It’s time to slink into Friday nights in our artistic Lobby Lounge, with gin cocktails to tickle your taste buds and sophisticated jazz notes to serenade your soul.
We sat down with local musician, Christopher Yeabsley, to talk about all things music at QT Wellington.
Q: Hey Christopher! So great to have you here. Tell us a bit more about Alexander and yourself.
A: Every Friday night, myself and Alexander Boulton set ourselves up in the Lobby Bar and play some of our favourite jazz numbers. Between us we play the organ and guitar which is a relatively uncommon duo for jazz. We play music from the American songbook, jazz standards, originals, traditional tunes, even some calypso favourites. It’s hard to put a label on the overall style but what we play generally has a bebop tinge to it.
Q: Sounds divine! What is your favourite song of all time to play?
A: This is a tough one, but you can’t beat a nice slow blues for that melancholy feeling. Every week we have a few new tunes in mind to play, but requests are always welcome.
Q: We’ll have to think of some of our favourites for you to play for us then! So, what would have to be your favourite part about playing at QT Wellington?
A: The setting is amazing with all the art surrounding the Lobby Lounge. And of course the guests are fantastic every time! The Lobby Lounge is such a unique vibe for Wellington. Relaxed but exciting. Great music and delicious cocktails. It often feels like you’re in a James Bond movie.
Well everyone wants to feel like they’re in a Bond movie at least once in their life, right?
Reunite your love affair with swinging good music and cocktails that hold their own tune. Ignite your emotions with sweet flavours and sweeter sounds. Your evening’s just getting started.
