Think of a number between 1 and 10 million and in terms of literage of beer.
I’ll wait.
Remember your number, we’ll get back to this shortly, for now, we have much to discuss.
On October 14, 2017, Oktoberfest, the Wellington edition will be taking over the TSB Bank Arena in the heart of the capital for a good old tapping of the keg. It’s now time to get your lederhosen and dirndl back from the dry cleaners after last years incidents and sort out your hair, tis the season the celebrate beer is upon us.
Being the diverse culture that we are here in New Zealand, there’s no shortage of German-style beer being brewed across the two islands. The stock standard, Oktoberfest must, Hofbräuhaus will be in high demand and plentiful supply, though it’ll be jostling for top brew as it will be amongst some of the finest beers in the land. Our friends at Black Dog Brew Co will be pouring, along with Panhead Brewery, Tiamana, Sprig & Fern and Mikes.
So any forecast of a beer drought has been firmly squashed.
As the festival has become known for the live music and the classic battle of the bands, the festival has gone and outdone themselves with another cracking lineup to keep your spirits high. This year, the defending champions from 2016, Das Steinbenders will be on hand looking to rock you with a number of covers and a couple of classics. Though the Wanganui Bratwurst Butchers seem to be looking to lay claim to the top prize as do the Christchurch Gummistiefels and the Lower Hutt Springbocks… It’s all neck and neck out there.
Then to help the beer go down, the food offering is full of tasty offerings. Bratwursts to Chimney Cakes, you won’t go hungry. My mouth is currently drooling over the thought of beers and German snags.
Check out the official Oktoberfest website for all the juicy details and to book those much-needed tickets HERE.
Oh, and that number was 7.6 million litres of beer.
