There’s a LEGO Exhibition in Wellington Right Now

LEGO! The Taj Mahal, Michelangelo’s Statue of David, and The Great Wall of China are on the bucket list of many millennials with wanderlust. However, since Gen Y’s brunch habits are making it that much harder to make it through the list, Ryan McNaught, otherwise known as Brickman, has brought some of the world’s most iconic landmarks right next door. Enter Wellington’s LEGO exhibition – Let’s Go Build.

Ryan is one of only fourteen LEGO Certified Professionals in the world, and his team has spent 4,944 hours building the 50 LEGO masterpieces that will bring out the inner-kid in you this summer. Te Papa Tongarewa will house the LEGO exhibition that Brickman describes as the pinnacle of his career, “This is like nothing that has been seen before in NZ. Every model is brand new and infinitely more detailed than anything I’ve ever created.”

See the Taj Mahal, the Empire State Building with King Kong, the Leaning Tower of Pisa and Arc de Triomphe, made exclusively from LEGO bricks.

Not only will this help make your way through your bucket list, but visitors will be taken on a historical journey through time, with the opportunity to discover more about each attraction – real life and LEGO life! LEGO-lovers will be given the opportunity to get hands-on and take part in the model making, creating a truly interactive experience.

It’s super interactive with lots of activities for LEGO fanatics to get involved in. LEGO Fans will have the chance to build a statue of themselves next to the mighty Statue of David, and they can also help me build some LEGO cars for the traffic jam around the Arc de Triomphe” says McNaught. “There’s so many hands-on things to get involved with – hopefully all the budding builders in Wellington are up for the challenge!

Digital play is here to stay, but who doesn’t love the fun of plastic engineering and a creative outlet overflowing with nostalgia.
