A new city yields adventure. Wellington locals would agree that the capital is a hard one to navigate for first timers.
Sure you could reach for the trusty copy of Lonely Planet and start to highlight a couple of spots that sound enticing… or you could reach for the ‘gram, punch in a couple of characters (#wellington) and check out the best of the windy capital as told by locals and lovers of all things good.
Though as the internet, and in particular Instagram can lead you to some really weird shit, here is a concise guide to Wellington as curated by some of our favourite ‘grams in town:
Food
There are so many food ‘grammers out there that it’s hard to pick just one. Though if Instagram is a game of photography mixed with a catchy caption, the Alana and Vicky at @capitaleats_ take the cake here. Follow them if you’re looking to fill that hole in your belly, especially if you like to fill that hole with really good looking food.Drink
Again it’s hard to really pin down the best with so much competition going on. Though @wellybelly_ do a very good job of documenting the finest bars and drinks around town. They’ll also feed your belly if you’re still a little peckish.Coffee
As lovers of the caffeinated bean, @laffare have become very good friends of ours. Not only do they stock us here at QT Museum Wellington with their roast, but they also hold down two cafes and a very fun Instagram. So if you’re in the need for a cold brew or your next flat white, look no further…Hotels
Umm.. us @qtmuseum_wellington?Stay in the loop
With so much going on in the city of wind, the team over at @wellington_newzealand seem to keep a finger on the pulse when it comes to events around town. They also create some rather awesome looking photography.Bus Stops
Into bus stops around town? Cool, so is @bus_stops_of_wellingtonTravel Inspo
There is something about flying that just screams escapism… so for a Monday morning dose of inspiration, resulting in a Friday night flight, throw a scroll over to @airnz for some incredible shots.
