Get Wild at Winetopia

Wine is kind of a big deal and pretty much the ‘all the time’ past-time in our world – responsibility and tastefully of course. So you can imagine our excitement when we heard a wine-filled winter is coming, kicking off with Winetopia presented by Singapore Airlines.

Returning to Welly for the second year running, this two-day celebration was a sell out last year and will be held at the TSB Arena for 2018 to hold the maximum number of vino-enthusiasts. Join fellow lovers of wine and drink and be merry together with drops from 60 New Zealand wineries to be tasted.

There will be three speaker areas set up, hosting the likes of the ‘Master of Wine’, Stephen Wong. Renowned Australian wine writer Nick Stock will also be coming to the event for the first time to host the Masterclass series.

Discover your favourite wine from some of our best wineries like Craggy Range, Mt Difficulty, Vavasour, Greywacke and Man O’ War. Share a Glass with some famous NZ personalities (like Peri Weepu) or listen to the experts share their wine knowledge. And what’s wine without the award-winning artisans with the food to match?

Here at QT, we’re pretty excited about Wine Wizardry. These are free educational talks by speakers that consist of Masters of Wines, gurus, top sommeliers and the like presenting the wine. Over the two days, they will speak and showcase a few wines that take their fancy. Hippopotamus’ Head Sommelier, Florent Souche and Executive Chef, Laurent Loudeac will be sharing knowledge from their time in the Hippopotamus cellar.

Excite all senses with a match made in the culinary heaven with a sip of Ash Ridge Premium Viognier paired with QT Museum Wellington’s signature dish, Salmon Sashimi My Way. If you’re more into the reds, how about Hippopotamus’ loved seared venison loin and salted caramel ganache with drunken prune paired with Colombo Martinborough Syrah 2016?
