With a fascinating fusion of high and lowbrow art, QT Museum Wellington is where those in the know come for a taste of creativity overflowing.
To be fully immersed and supporting the local creative scene is fundamental to what we do. That’s why we’re throwing down a challenge to the greater artistic community to create original artworks for the wall space behind the bed heads in our brand new guest rooms – which you may choose to extend out to the private balcony walls.
If you’re interested in having your art grace the walls of Wellington’s hottest designer hotel, adding to one of the country’s most eclectic and eccentric art collections, then we encourage you to submit your designs via our entry portal below.
If you haven’t yet had the pleasure of exploring QT Museum Wellington, our lobby is home to New Zealand’s largest privately owned art collection, with art and design at the heart of the hotel’s identity. Your artwork could be part of a collection boasting works by Dick Frizzell, Seraphine Pick, Liz Maw and BMD to (heavily) namedrop a few.
QT Museum Wellington’s General Manager AKA Big Dog says, “QT Museum Wellington is a cultural playground built on a wonderfully eccentric, largely national art collection. We are excited to work with creatives to bring to life a fusion of eclectic and eccentric art to awe and amaze local and international guests during their stay.”
That’s right, come in, do your thang and awe and amaze.
Submissions are open now until Friday the 8th of June, with the winning designs announced on Friday, 22 June. Winners will have six weeks to complete their (your) masterpieces with the new rooms set to be unveiled in early September this year.
The chosen artists will receive a sweet remuneration for each work and experience QT Life with two nights’ accommodation at QT Museum Wellington, including breakfast for two and dinner at Hot Sauce or Hippopotamus.
Draw, sketch, photograph, graffiti, whatever tickles your artistic fancy, our rooms will be a part of our history.
Submissions – and a full brief, including colour palettes, architectural drawings and the terms and conditions – can be made by visiting www.qthotelsandresorts.com/wellington/your-art-our-rooms.
