Stephen Clarke To Take The Helm As Executive Chef At Award-Winning QT Perth

Posted on: 25 July 2022

QT Perth has announced the appointment of Executive Chef Stephen Clarke to lead its celebrated venues, the award-winning Santini Bar & Grill, Rooftop at QT and QT Café. As the doors close on the Perth institution that was Clarke’s of North Beach, Clarke brings a wealth of experience and passion to the QT culinary scene.

Clarke joins QT Perth’s team at signature restaurant, Santini Bar & Grill, currently spearheaded by Chef De Cuisine Dario Pompucci. Like Clarke, Pompucci’s approach pays homage to the fresh, seasonal and playful Mediterranean flavours of Santini Grill, with a nod to its Western Australian locale.

As the former owner and chef of the award-winning Clarke’s of North Beach, Clarke developed an unrivalled reputation for sourcing the best ingredients. This produce-driven culinary philosophy will shine through on QT Perth’s menus, and relationships with key local suppliers will continue to be fostered across the food and beverage offerings.

“I am truly excited to work with the gifted team at QT Perth and nurture an environment of creativity. I am committed to producing incredible and memorable food for guests whilst honouring the ethos of each QT venue. We want to take our guests on an exciting culinary journey each time they visit, offering something that is bold and vibrant, yet familiar.” said Clarke.

Clarke brings with him several notable accolades and has been crowned the three-time ‘Catering Institute of Australia’ and two-time ‘Restaurant and Catering Institute Chef of the Year’. Clarke has been named ‘Australian National Chef of the Year’ and ‘Perth Good Food Guide Chef of the Year’. Clarke’s team of chefs have also represented Australia at the World Association of Chef Societies Olympics at both the junior and senior levels, winning gold.

QT Perth’s General Manager Lisa Parker said, “We’re thrilled to welcome Stephen to QT Perth.  We look forward to seeing how he can raise the bar even further on our already fabulous drinking and dining destinations, while mentoring the exceptional talent in our kitchen brigade.”

Since opening its doors in 2018, QT Perth’s restaurants and bars have celebrated prestigious accolades, including Santini Bar & Grill winning WA Good Food ‘Best New Restaurant’ in 2018 followed by ‘Restaurant of the Year’ in 2019, and most recently ‘Restaurant of the Year’ in 2022 and ‘Bar of the Year’ for Rooftop at QT at the Accommodation Awards for Excellence.
