At QT we covet art, fashion, design, food and drink, architecture and music. Perth Festival is a wonderful celebration of this, and kicking off inmid-February, running until the end of April. Here is our line-up of our unmissable events.
ALL THE BEAUTY AND THE BLOODSHED Monday 27th – Sunday 5th March at Lotterywest Films
‘All the Beauty and the Bloodshed’ is an epic, emotional and interconnected story about internationally renowned artist and activist Nan Goldin. Told through her slideshows, intimate interviews, ground-breaking photography and rare footage of her personal fight to hold the Sackler family accountable for the US opioid crisis.
Cornucopia by BJÖRK 3rd, 6th, 9th and 12th of March at Langley Park
Enter a purpose-built pavilion in Langley Park and discover a cyber-sonic Garden of Eden where nature and technology come together in perfect harmony.
Created by Icelandic pop iconoclast Björk, Cornucopia is a visually spectacular landscape of lush colours, futuristic screens and wild images of nature that comes alive with Björk’s wondrous music, as she performs live alongside musicians and choirs of flutes and voices.
BETWEEN US BY MICHAELA GLEAVE Friday 3rd to Monday 6th of March at AGWA Rooftop
Presented in association with the Art Gallery of Western Australia, multiple beams of light will pulse up into the night sky in a powerful and evocative expression of community. Over the Festival’s closing four nights, ‘Between Us’ is a public art and community engagement project that considers the ‘space between’. Encompassing the micro and macro, personal and public, local and universal, the project engages audiences in a poetic consideration of the spaces that exist between the structures and systems that shape our lives.
‘Between Us’ begins with the intimacy of this proposition and projects it out into the universe, with text generated by the community, translated into the Morse code language of pulses and pause, and beamed up into the sky as light signals leaving Earth to continue its conversation across space, time, light and distance.
NAKHANE Sunday March 5th at The Rechabite Hall
When Nakhane speaks, the world listens. This South African multi-disciplinary artist and musician has the style and voice to stop you in your tracks, with a gender-transgressing sound that has been championed by Madonna, Elton John and Black Coffee. Following their crucial 2018 hit album ‘You Will Not Die’, their political and erotic latest single sees Nakhane carving out a new sound and a new direction.
Nakhane’s music is a dazzling place and with their extraordinary talent, electrifying voice and magnetic live show, the dancefloor is the place you want to be.
With a plethora of stunning acts, artists and literature on show, Perth Festival joins QT Perth as another reason to spend even more time in the city. Don’t forget to start or end your journey at one of our signature venues for a tipple Santini Bar, Santini Grill or Rooftop at QT.
