If you like your music with a side of hippy earth loving peace-making, then buckle up your hemp pants and splash on some fresh patchouli oil because The John Butler Trio are coming to Canberra.
Giving a one-night performance at the Royal Theatre, the tour kicks off the release of their latest album Flesh and Blood. Inspired by the stories of those around him, the album is a self-proclaimed ‘magpie’. Butler says of the songs that he was inspired not only of his own life but of those around him and it was a mixing of the two that helped him set the tone for this release.
‘Flesh & Blood’ captures the John Butler Trio working up old strengths and finding new ones even at a time of change. For fans, there is much to take from this, their sixth album.
“I hope they go on a journey with it or take it with them on a journey.” Butler reflects. ” I hope it can be the soundtrack for some cool moments in their life and some shit moments in their life and I hope it can be there for them at the ebb of their energy wave and at the crest of it. In the loud times and the quiet times. That would be nice, and I think that’s what all good art’s done for me. It’s been there for me, in one way, or another.”Opening for the group will be singing phenomenon, Emma Louise, who will be performing tracks from her latest album vs Head vs Heart.
