Radiating the energy of the first Monday in May, with the twist of a modern garden party, QT Auckland set the scene for the first Fashion Quarterly runway, supported by Oppo.
Models arrived in glamorous fashion, to clouds of hairspray and shimmering Guerlain. The Limani Room was pumping all morning as talented local hair and makeup artists prim and primed models. A colourful array of garments, hand selected by renowned Kiwi stylist Sammy Salsa, hung elegantly to one side, and rows of Mi Piaci shoes awaited eagerly to take it to the pavement.
The clock struck 12 and wide-eyed guests were met by 1800 Tequila margaritas and glasses of Mumm Champagne, before taking their seat on the runway, bursting with beautiful purple posies, and whimsical floral arrangement thanks to Wildly Madly Deeply. Jupiter Project were slaying the tunes and we were all set for our very first runway!
Stepping out with Oppo’s new flip phone in hand, the tunes were dialed right up and the models gliding past rows of guests towards Viaduct Harbour. Showcasing both male and female New Zealand and International designers, from Ruby, Karen Walker to Superette International, Aje, Burberry and more. It was style, it was class, and QT Auckland held its head high as mise-en-scène to the show.
After time ticked and textiles tousled down the runway, it was time for the post fashion feast. Guests of Oppo headed to Rooftop at QT for a private soirée while QT x FQ guests were wined and dined (truly) in Esther, with Church Road wines and a feasting-style lunch of Esther favourites. Spot prizes saw two guests win an Oppo flip phone and Oppo pad, and all runway goers received a tote bag with goodies valued at over $300 – A Glasshouse candle, Tory Burch perfume, Dr Lewis, No Ugly tonics, Chipolo tags, just to name a few.
Jupiter Project kept the party going with an after party at Rooftop at QT – and that, kids, was a Monday that won’t be forgotten.
