At QT, every rule was made to be broken… the way any guest sees fit. From lazy days to riotous nights, we’re ready to embrace how each and every QTie stays their way at ours. We sat down with Stefan and Sebastien, who document their travels around the world as the Nomadic Boys. Read on for a quickfire round of questions about their favourite way to live the QT Life, plus a few other tidbits.
Sebastien and Stefan, tell us about yourselves!
We are gay couple, Stefan and Sebastien. Seby is from France, Stefan is Greek Cypriot who grew up in London, UK. We’ve been together for 15 years. Together we set up the Nomadic Boys gay travel blog in 2013, initially as a way for friends and family to keep in touch with a big trip we were doing at the time in Asia, but has since grown to become one of the largest online gay travel resources. To celebrate our 10 year milestone of Nomadic Boys, we did a big trip Down Under, which is what brings us to New Zealand.
What’s your ideal stay away? Drinking wine in the countryside or exploring with adrenaline-filled adventures?
We love a mix of both. The ideal trip will have culture, museums, partying, plenty of adventure, hiking, nature, outdoors, and good food.
We couldn’t agree more. Favourite thing about QT?
We stayed at QT Queenstown and loved it. You only need to sit at Bazaar restaurant by the window to see why. The view across Lake Wakatipu with the backdrop of the snow-capped mountains in the background is absolutely gorgeous! You can never get bored of this view when you pull back the curtains. Speaking of Bazaar, the buffet breakfast here is divine. They have everything from fresh pastries, delicious omelettes made to order, homemade smoothies, and, THE best lamb sausages we’ve ever tried! They even make their own honey – if you peer over their rooftop you can see the QT beehives that produce it.
What’s your holiday tune on the soundtrack to your life?
For Seby, “What’s Up?” by the 4 Non Blondes. For Stefan, anything by Sia – her latest song “Gimme Love” is being played on repeat at the moment!
Introvert or extrovert?
Stefan is the more extroverted of the two of us. Seby is more introverted, but becomes the heart and soul of a party after a few drinks.
Drinks of choice?
Our favourite non-alcoholic drink is ginger beer. At a bar, Stefan favours a Margarita, Seby an Old Fashioned. We both also love Pisco Sours.
And lastly, what gives you the ick?
For Seby it’s bad breath, particularly caused by raw onions and garlic. This drives him mad. Poor Stefan has had to avoid them like the plague over the past 15 years. Stefan loathes clutter, that’s what gives him the ick!
