We’ve reached that itchy feet time of year again. You can prepare yourself for the upcoming snow season, but what do the crystal balls and meteorological charts say about the Queenstown snow forecast 2018? What does that know-it-all at the pub reckon? Have you yourself got a snowy hunch?
Surely the snow gods are benevolent and will gloriously dump shreddable powder continuously throughout winter … right?
During this calm before the (fingers crossed) snowstorm, we turn to the Grasshopper for his educated predictions. Our arthropod soothsayer recently released a detailed report outlining his interpretation of the Queenstown snow forecast 2018 tea leaves. And to save you the hassle of reading the whole damn thing, we’ve summarised it for you.
The Grasshopper’s Queenstown snow forecast 2018
- Despite the fact we just sweated out the hottest summer on record and coasted through a balmy March, in the last month a wintery change brought the mercury well down and even brought some welcome early snowfall
- Even though we’ve had this seemingly positive preseason, it’s looking like a classic neutral ENSO weather pattern won’t be delivering the humungous early season dump we all want. It’s not devastating news, it just means opening day won’t be the best snow you’ve EVER seen
- One hope lies in the ocean. It looks like the Tasman Sea will be more unsettled than usual and with a bit of luck a few ripper storms will push in and bring in the good stuff on a whim. Be ready to drop everything and get out there when it happens
- “Despite the prognosis not being overly fantastic, New Zealand will still see a healthy mix of highs and fronts dance by over the course of the season, and you can almost be guaranteed there will be ample opportunity to get your slide on”
That’s it so far for the Queenstown snow forecast 2018. The Grasshopper will be getting back to us at the beginning of June to update the outlook.
