The QT Life isn’t reserved just for humans. Henry the Dood (aka @thatwanakadood) checked into a new breed of luxury for the ultimate doggo indulgence. Here’s what he had to say about Pup Yeah! and all the fetching features included in his stay.
Tell us a little bit about yourself, and don’t be afraid to get a little personal – where are you from, what is your breed, how old are you?
I’m a two-year-old labradoodle. When I was a wee pup I flew on my own down to Christchurch to meet my human family, and now we live in beautiful Wanaka. I love to go hiking and swimming!
Do you travel often, or was your stay at QT Queenstown the first time your human has treated you to a luxury mini break?
I’m the kind of pup who goes everywhere with my family. If I can’t go, generally the humans won’t go. This was the first time I got to stay at a luxury hotel though. I couldn’t believe my luck when they said I was actually allowed to go inside!
Pup Yeah! guests enjoy all the luxury and personal attention that their humans would expect for themselves, such as designer bedding and bowls, and a nightly turn-down service complete with gourmet snacks. How did your room compare with the comforts of home?
After strutting around like a rockstar receiving pats in the lobby, I made myself right at home in our room. In fact, I’ve asked the humans if they can get me the same luxury bed as the one in the room for Christmas. Hopefully Santa Paws comes through for me and shops at Smack Bang. Maybe I should request a turn down service at home? The treats left out for me were delicious!
From a decadent, in-room doggy dinner menu designed by each property’s Executive Chef to a pooch-approved mini bar, Pup Yeah! sounds like a food hound’s dream holiday. Did you sample any of the cuisine, and if so, what did you think?
Choosing which tasty meal to try off the doggy menu was tricky. I opted for the prime beef with bone broth gravy and carrots. QT’s Head of Treats even made sure it wasn’t too hot for my doggy palate. It was lip-smackingly good! The treats from Smack Bang in the minibar were very tasty too.
The mini-bar is stocked with everything a pooch could want. Did you indulge in any retail therapy during your stay?
The mini bar was so impressive! It really did have everything a pooch could want, even poop bags if your humans have forgotten them. I was lucky enough to get a very refined Wolves of Wellington bow tie. The right accessory for a luxury stay I think.
What was the most memorable aspect of your Pup Yeah! luxury getaway, and would you allow your human to book another stay in the future?
I hope I can bring my humans to stay again. I loved how relaxed they were having me hanging out in the room with them. My favourite part of the stay was the amazing hospitality of the QT team. I felt like doggy royalty and loved all the attention from the hotel staff and guests.
