The catch? There isn’t one. Not only is Bondi home to the world’s most loved beach, it’s home to Bondi’s very first and only brewery bar, Curly Lewis. There’s no surprises that in Bondi we like to keep it in the neighbourhood, and now there’s absolutely no excuse to leave.
Where does Curly Lewis come from? Right here. The brainchild of a group of local beer-loving mates who wanted to bring a new kind of brewery experience to their own backyard, Curly Lewis was born. The entrepreneurs have strong families ties to the neighbourhood, pictures line the walls of their grandparents in the early 40’s serving in the Bondi Surf Lifesaving club.
With a long list of brews that all read so damn delicious, the Curly Lewis team will make a hard choice, an easy one. The brewery has two core beers, the Curly Lewis Clean Cut Lager a crisp, straight-up larger, which is certainly not one for the faint hearted. If you prefer hazy and hoppy tropical notes, the Bondi Hazy Ale is your go-to. Not only are the team pouring their core beers, Curly Lewis also have an extensive range of other varietals of beers, titled ‘wildcards’ and seltzers. Wildcards are forever evolving due to the on-site brewing system, so it’s guaranteed you will find a new favourite each visit.
Whilst you quench your thirst, delight in a menu inspired by coastal pub favourites that sing a melody of a Sunday afternoon post beach dip. Dishes are made with premium produce and paired to their beer offerings, think battered fish and chips, fresh salads, burgers and salt and pepper squid.
