I know I’ve just lost most of you already but for those that stick around, I’ll tell you the best spots in Bondi for a round.
Whether you’re driving them straight down the fairway or hacking your way through the rough on the way to the green, a day on the course is a day well spent.
In no other sport can you whack the crap out of a ball and then take a leisurely stroll through lush green grass, bantering with your mates whilst surrounded by beautiful views and bathed in rays of sunshine.
It’s the game they play in heaven!
If the prospect of an afternoon round has the hairs on the back of your neck standing up, Bondi’s courses have got you covered no matter where you sit on the golfing spectrum:
Bondi Golf & Diggers Club
Set on the headland of North Bondi, this course boasts some of the most spectacular sights Bondi has to offer. It doesn’t have the most luscious fairways or well-kept greens you’ve ever seen but with its Cliffside location that offers sweeping views of the ocean, Bondi Beach and the city skyline… it’s no wonder it’s long been a treasured secret for Bondi locals, be they golfers or not.
The 9-hole, old-style links course is open to the public all year round and is the antithesis of posh, rich old men in strict golfing attire. Beers on the course are customary and on a sunny day, no one cares if you’ve even got a shirt on. No need for bookings either, just rock up on the day, have a hit, enjoy the fresh ocean air with the best Bondi views and hang around for a schooner or two at the Digger’s clubhouse. That’s the sort of daydreams are made of.
The Royal Sydney Golf Club
You know how I mentioned those posh old men?
This Championship Course is the crème de la crème of golf in Sydney… it’s one of the most prestigious in the country and has played host to the Australian Open on 15 occasions. Situated in Bondi’s beautiful neighbouring suburb of Rose Bay, the Royal Sydney offers a tantalising 18-hole challenge to only those of serious golfing prowess. Undulating fairways, delicate water features and treacherous bunkers make the Championship Course a true test for even the most avid golfer.
It’s a private club with very restricted opportunities for visitor play so make sure you check with the club to establish your playing possibility and associated green fees. All the info HERE
