New Bondi Restaurants to Add to the List

Mar 2, 2018  ·  3 min read

Apart from being home to Australia’s 5th best beach according to the 2018 TripAdvisor awards, Bond plays host to a bold smorgasbord of vibrant eateries and adventurous watering holes. The eat-and-drink-scape is one of constant evolution. New Bondi restaurants and bars are constantly popping up in new spots and in place of old ones whose time has come.

The competitive and ever-changing Bondi foodie scene is a challenging one. Challenging in that it’s daring you to take it on. And that’s why culinary hit lists are essential whether visiting or living in Bondi. You need a finger on the pulse to monitor the comings and goings of the latest kombuchas, kimchi, cocktails, coffees, pokes, pastas, beers, burgers and, dare I say it, smashed avos.

New Bondi restaurants and bars right now?

That’s a great question and one we recently asked. We’ve listed three new Bondi restaurants and bars that should be added to your foodie hit list.

Bondi Beach Public Bar

Run by the crew behind Icebergs and Da Orazio, this new Campbell street pub offers an All Day Breakfast pizza (tomato sauce and Mozzarella base. spicy Italian sausage, roasted mushroom, tomato and egg), No.457 Italian Tequila Sunset (Don Julio Tequila, Campari, ruby red grapefruit, lime and agave) and the Double Squish.

Finally, a place that serves squashed burgers! The ‘Double Squish’ Cheeseburger is a flattened American style double beef, cheese, bacon and onion burger. And a burger that is indubitably worth trying.

Green Dream

The man who gifted us Fratelli Fresh, Barry McDonald, is opening an upmarket salad bar and, hooray-for-us, it’s in Bondi.

Far from your average point and scoop, Green Dream is a salad bar armed with over 50 gourmet ingredients McDonald has personally sourced from producers he’s met throughout his career. With a vibrant ingredient arsenal and 13 dressings to work with, chef Ashleigh Jarvis (The Ledbury, Dinner by Heston, Rockpool Bar & Grill) will be making four new salads each week. Each month, there’ll also be one of Australia’s top chefs having a crack at creating a bomb salad, and if the pros aren’t doing it for you, then you’re free to make your own.

Panama House

This Latin American favourite isn’t exactly a new Bondi restaurant however it is in a new spot.

Now on Campbell Parade, the location has given owners a chance to unleash a new Panamanian beast. With a balcony looking straight out to the horizon and a reimagined coffee, brunch, share-style dinner and cocktail menu, the move is improving on an already bang-on dining option.
