Celebrate Mother’s Day in Bondi

words by alex robertson

Mothers Day…. If you ask me it has to be the most important day of the year. Without her, there’d be no you and without you, I would have no readers. So let’s celebrate Mums because they’re are the best!!

We all live such busy lives these days, sometimes Mothers Day might slip your mind and you don’t realise till the day before that you have nothing to give and nowhere booked for your Mumma’s special day.

So here’s a little Bondi Mother’s Day Guide to ensure this doesn’t happen because even though she might say ‘oh no darl, don’t worry about getting me anything this year’ that secretly means ‘if you don’t get me something your brother is the favourite until you have time to prove yourself again.’

Best flowers in Bondi –
Nothing says I love you more than a bunch of your Mum’s favourite blooms but the old gerberas sitting out the front of the convenient store wrapped in cellophane just won’t do the trick these days. I have two florists I frequent in Bondi and I am never disappointed. Tulipanna on Bondi Road and Maggie May Flowers on Glenayr. Simply pick her favourite colour or type of flower if you know and let the artists do the rest!

So summery on this beautiful day in Bondi.

Gift Ideas and where to find them –
Even if your Mumma has everything or you just never know what to get her, there are a few gifts that you can just never go wrong with.

Plants – Plant shopping is easy in Bondi and these days. You can walk into a shop and buy the plant already in a beautiful decorative pot all ready to go. Gone of the days when you would have to go to the nursery, buy your plant, find a pot to match, replant it yada yada. There are few standout stores you will find the perfect plant. Abode on Hall Street, Jones & Co on Jaques Ave or if you want to dig a bit deeper into the wallet then Totem Road has Mum’s name written all over it!

Clothes – you might be thinking ‘ahhh clothes is a really hard one’ but if you head to either of these stores the girls working will be all over it for you. If you Mum is into the simple minimal look then Jatali on Gould is your one stop shop it’s also very affordable. If she a bit more on the fancy side and enjoys luxurious materials and a bit more sass then Natalie Alamein on Hall Street is a perfect choice.

Homewares – A very broad suggestion BUT there is one shop that just has so many options and they are all perfection. You’ll have no trouble at all finding something to suit mums style, that store is Commune on the corner of Glenayr and Warners Ave. Cushions, rugs, crockery, candles and beautiful linen sets are just a few of the things on offer.

Places to wine and dine-

Breakfast – Porch & Parlour. Treat yourself to an all-day menu filled with healthy, creative dishes whilst you immerse yourself in the North Bondi vibes.

Lunch – North Bondi Fish. Perfect for a light lunch and bulk cocktails. Try and get an outdoor table if the weather is good because the view is 10/10.

Dinner – Icebergs Bar. The most photographed view in Bondi and for damn good reason. Icebergs is quickly booking out for their famous Italian food and wine menu so be sure to book asap!
