The Loqules Experience

Jun 2, 2016  ·  3 min read

By Ben Stephens.

You know that feeling when you arrive into a city for a couple of days, when you know absolutely no one in town and you feel like you’re missing out on the local lay of the land. Take for example the time I spent a 26hr layover in Sri Lanka’s capital, Colombo – a bearded youth in a new town, sinking local brews in a small bar… Maybe there was a better way to spend it? Debatable, but maybe.

Would you prefer hanging out with a local and see the city from their perspective? Or what about going for a skate with a home-grown champ, having a styling session with the best looking dude in town or even do a little one on one with the city’s best on field?

Luckily Sydney is the home of the Loqules, a website that will put you in touch with a local that knows what’s good. Loqules is a unique experience supplier, offering some pretty rad adventures with equally rad locals, or “loqules”, if you will. If only the Colombo bar scene wasn’t so distracting, I totally would have gone for a skate.

Birthed by Sydney dude, Jai Al-Attas in 2014, he and his mates got together to offer a guiding hand in showing off their local community. Funnily enough, Jai’s friends all hold a little extra je ne sais quoi, they hold a little celebrity street credit to their name. In Bondi alone, Loqules can hook you up with Aussie pro skateboarder Corbin Harris for a little practice session, you can chill out with some wine and snacks while creating art with Danielle Cross or even go for a workout with model/personal trainer Dominique Le Toulle at Icebergs gym.

Further afield you could go surfing in the Mentawais with the recently retired Taj Burrow for $15K or shred slops in Wanaka, New Zealand, with Jack Willways, or even join the Vans Warped Tour… actually that one just sold out, scrap the Vans Warped Tour, you can’t do that anymore.

The team at Loqules are outdoing themselves with the lineup of residents in around the country and even overseas. To check out a full list of what you can do in a city near you, check out the lineup HERE.

Do cool stuff, with cool people… are we implying you’re not doing that already? Yes, that’s exactly what we’re saying.
