Shredders, wax heads, kooks and barneys… As a surfer, you will fit into one of these categories. Personally, I fall into the kook box, as much as I enjoy watching the Pipeline Masters every December, I look at my un-waxed 6.7ft board that takes up a fair chunk of my lounge room and think to myself that maybe I should get it wet at some point this summer and learn to shred.
The time is now. The days are longer, the swell is friendly and the team at Let’s Go Surfing! are ready to take you out into the big blue and show how to tame the fiberglass under your feet as you carve the wave of your life.
Let’s Go Surfing! was established back in ‘95 by Brenda Miley, operating out the back of a van at Bondi Beach. Brenda learnt to surf from the age of three, riding her first wave while clinging to her dad’s back. From there she has surfed at some of the world’s best spots, competed in the Australian Women’s Surf titles, has held titles like the Women’s Director for Surfing Australia, and started the Bondi Girls Surf Rider’s Club. So yeah, she knows a thing or two about getting pitted.
Today, you can book in surf lessons anywhere from Byron Bay to the original spot at Bondi Beach, and down south to Maroubra. You’ll be coached by some of the best local, national and even international surf teachers, that will guide you from your first paddle to your first barrel.
From a two-hour casual session, to a six-week intensive course, the rad team at Let’s Go Surfing! will have you standing up on some friendly waves and throwing shakas in no time.
Shaka bra.
