If you are one of those sick individuals that enjoys a windy day then I don’t have any words for you… but I guess on certain days we all have to deal with the wind so why not make the most of it? Festival of the Winds is Australia’s largest kite festival and comes to Bondi Beach every year on September 11. The sky on the beach fills with hundreds of weird and wonderful kites flown by tourists, locals and kite professionals (yes it is an actual profession). Everything from giant killer whales, jelly fish and rainbow stingrays to pirate teddy bears, tigers and even Pokémon!
If kite flying isn’t your thing and you would just prefer to watch rather than embarrass yourself by watching your little kite plummet into the sand every minute like mine does then there is plenty more activities for you to enjoy. Dance and Music from around the globe will entertain on the floor while kite making, jumping castles, animal farm, face painting will entertain the kids.
Whether you want to have a picnic with your mates on the grassy knoll while enjoying the sights of the colour-filled sky, or take the whole clan down for a whole day of family fun then this has your name written all over it!
