You best get ready to bow down and wail, “we’re not worthy, we’re not worthy” a la Wayne’s World, because rock royalty is coming to a sandy stage in Bondi. Aussie, rock royalty.
Bondi Beachfest is a concert on Australia’s most iconic beach to kick off summer… how bloody good. It’s one for both the tourists lucky enough to visit the Bondi shores during summer, as well as the proud locals.
This is only the second time this massive beach party has gone down and if last year’s was anything to go by, the 2016 instalment will be banging. The seven hour music festival will be headlined by ARIA Hall of Famers Icehouse and Australian Crawl and Hunters & Collectors mainstays James Reyne and Mark Seymour, and will be supported by a hoard of local heroes including the pleasant melodies of Josh Pyke, the newly reformed Rogue Traders, the funky roots of Ash Grunwald and a guy you might not know (but should), William Crighton.
These legends belting out tunes in a setting that couldn’t be more Aussie if it tried – I’m no mathematician, but I’m pretty sure summer x beach x rock = bloody good time.
Picture yourself perched on a rug with a cold one in hand, listening to legendary Sydney pub rockers, Icehouse pump out “Great Southern Land” as the sun dips on pink and orange pastel sky. It’s an awe-inspiring thought that makes you wish summer actually was here and you did actually have a cold one sitting firmly in your mit.
… And if I had free reign on emojis I’d finish this paragraph with THONGS, COLD BEER, SEAGULL, GUITAR, SURFER, MEAT PIE, SEAGULL, SUN, ROCK N ROLL HAND, COLD BEER, COLD BEER.
You can grab tickets from the Bondi Beachfest website.
Bondi Beachfest is on November 12 on Bondi Beach.
