Best Bondi Burgers

There’s no denying that burgers are an Aussie staple. We eat, we enjoy and then we pretty much start planning our next fix. We can choose from everything from the traditional beef to fried chicken, fish, pulled pork or vego (and more!) … then you can add pickles, mustard, 17 types of sauces (figuratively speaking), bacon, egg, or a bit of pretty much everything under the sun, if you please. The burger is your oyster in Sydney, so to speak.

There are some tried and tested haunts and also some terrific new spots popping up all over Sydney (and the whole country) but here are our favourites in and around Bondi.

Forget trying to keep your buff beach bod in check for when summer comes around again because these burgers are delicious and stuff-in-your-mouth-worthy at any time of the year!

Bills

Bill Granger opened his first restaurant at 24 and, 20 years later, it’s still going seriously strong. This Sydney institution hasn’t been in Bondi all that long but their burger is a tried and tested phenomenon.

It takes the traditional route in a super fancy way with wagyu beef, grilled swiss cheese, pickled green chilli, herb mayo and rocket, and don’t forget the unforgettable fries!

MOO Gourmet Burgers

A burger with a bloody good view is just what the doctor ordered. MOO was established in 2009 by Adam J Gerondis with a plan to pay homage to his two grandfathers who both had huge success with the traditional milk bar, hence why they specialise in both burgers and milkshakes.

Signature beef burgers include the Black and White and the Big Moo. Another stand out is the lamb burger with oregano, garlic, rosemary, tomato, lettuce and aioli.

BondiTony’s

Mix rock ‘n’ roll with burgers and you get BondiTony’s. With a distinct rocker vibe, you can chill out and enjoy some super tasty burgers such as the Classic Cog with beef, cheese, lettuce, homemade bbq chutney and tomato relish.

Or, if you are looking for something less meaty, try the Johnny Collide with a house-made corn and chickpea pattie, onion rings, mushrooms, cheese, tomato relish and honey-infused aioli. The extra options of what you can add to your burger are extensive so you will definitely get a burger feast just as you like it.

GoodTime Burgers

Located in The Eastern Hotel, GoodTime Burgers certainly will give you a good time. They are going for an American burger/diner vibe and it works. You really can’t go wrong but be prepared to be extremely full by the end of your meal as these burgers are HUGE.

Try the Wingman, which is southern fried buttermilk chicken, cheese, bacon and slaw. Or there’s multiple BIG beef burgers to choose from and even a tasty a mushroom burger with halloumi. The fries, sides and extras are worth going for in their own right.
