Autumnal Fashion x Bondi

Mar 24, 2017  ·  2 min read

words by alex robertson

With a new season comes new fashion and with new fashion comes an empty wallet, god forbid we wear last season’s threads.

I am all for the cooler months. Nothing excites me more than a good pair of jeans, a crisp white tee and a show-stopping jacket – whether it be denim, leather, fur (faux of course) or a just a spunky blazer, the jacket is everything in winter fashion.

For anyone who has visited our home of QT Bondi, they will know it’s dangerously close to the shopping hub of Gould Street. When I am having a “non-shopping week” I have to take the long way around Campbell Parade to get anywhere because I don’t trust myself to not spend while strolling down that little street of shopping heaven.

So the other day, on a day I was feeling too lazy to take ‘the long way’ and strong enough to not make any impulse purchases, I strolled down Gould. Little did I know that I had chosen the week that all the new autumn stock would be fresh in the windows, screaming try me on!!!

Summer is typically the fun months in fashion – bright colours, prints and texture fill the shelves, but Summer this year was all about the minimalistic pieces made with the highest quality linens and silks. The roles have been reversed in 2017 and Autumn has now brought the fun to the table. With a lot of inspiration from the time that everyone dreaded would return – The 80’s!!

We are seeing a few different styles filter through this season and they are all very strong 80’s influences. One being the grungy, gothic look – this was also a 90’s influence but the style we are seeing today is much more on the 80’s scale.

Think dark red velvet, black lace, acid wash denim, bomber jackets with embroidered roses and band tees. All we need is a teased perm and we would be right back there with Bowie in his prime.
