They’re nervous, but on the surface they look calm and ready… This is what the 60+ designers have been training for. May 15 is game day as Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia kicks off. It’s time to shine, baby.

And from that bunch of couture creators, who’s flying the flag for ‘Straya? We’ve singled out a few locals that we think you should keep an eye out for…

We are Handsome

Jeremy and Katinka Somers are pushing the boundaries of active, leisure and swimwear. The husband and wife pair churns out vibrant pieces that are ballsy, commanding and very sexy. Beyonce and Rihanna have both been known to sport We are Handsome, and if good enough for Bey and RiRi, it’s good enough for us.

Di$count Univer$e

Cami James and Nadia Napreychikov are steering the Di$count Univer$e ship into relatively unchartered waters. They’re loud and they know it, they’ve got big style and they show it… potential slogan ladies? Their limited release festival wear doesn’t follow the rules and therein lies the charm. These pieces are cracked, empowering and embody the I-want-fun-get-out-of-my-way attitude. Di$count Univer$e has been getting mad love from heaps of big names, like Madonna, Beyonce, Miley Cyrus, Rihanna, Rita Ora, Katy Perry, Gigi Hadid, Grimes, Nicki Minaj and Cara Delevingne.
